North Shore

North Shore conversations

The North Shore page is for people who live or practise between the harbour and the upper suburbs, not for everyone in Sydney. The days look like school runs on the Pacific Highway, rooms in St Leonards or Chatswood, and established households in places such as Gordon, Killara and Mosman. Those names are areas clients come from. They are not office addresses.

The financial subjects are the same authorised list. What changes is the household: often two professional incomes, a long-held home, parents ageing nearby, and adult children who have not left the balance sheet. Financial advice is provided by MGB Financial Services.

Local clients

North Shore households

A medical specialist with rooms on the lower North Shore and a list at a nearby private hospital. Income protection and the difference between cover inside and outside super are the usual questions. They are explained generally on the doctors page. Here, the point is that a meeting in the CBD means crossing the bridge at the wrong time of day. A video hour, or an in-person meeting on the North Shore, is the arrangement that gets kept.

A couple in an upper North Shore suburb, both still working, with super in old employer funds and a parent whose care may start to matter. Retirement planning is the subject. Aged care advice is not marketed on this website. Government benefits, where they are relevant to a retirement plan, sit in the Financial Services Guide and are not calculated here.

A professional who grew up on the North Shore, now helping ageing parents and teenage children at the same time. Estate planning with specialist legal partners is often the legal question. This page does not pretend to write the will. It says who does.

Meetings

How North Shore meetings work

In person on the North Shore, at a place agreed for that appointment, or by video. We do not publish a Chatswood, St Leonards or Mosman address. If you book a room, you receive the details. They are not a listing.

Video suits the early list and the school pickup equally. It is offered without being described as a favour. The introductory conversation is the same either way, and it is not advice.

If you work in the CBD and only sleep on the North Shore, the Sydney page may be the clearer fit. If the hospital is Westmead, use Parramatta. The point of separate pages is to stop them reading like one template.

How it works

Five steps, from a conversation to written advice

The steps below describe the introduction. They are the same on each advice page so the process is easy to compare. Personal advice, if you proceed, is given by MGB Financial Services.

  1. A private consultation

You book a free initial 15-minute chat with Vermilion. The conversation is about the questions you want to raise. It is general. It is not personal advice, and you can stop after it.

  2. An introduction, if you want one

If you ask us to, Vermilion passes your enquiry to MGB Financial Services Pty Ltd. If you do not, the enquiry stays with Vermilion. Vermilion does not hold an Australian financial services licence and does not give the advice.

  3. Scope and fees, before advice

MGB Financial Services explains what the advice would cover, and the fees, before personal advice is prepared. This website does not set those fees. The Financial Services Guide describes how MGB Financial Services is paid.

  4. Advice in writing

If you proceed, personal advice is documented for you to read before you act on it. The document is prepared by MGB Financial Services, after your own circumstances have been considered.

  5. Reviews, where agreed

An ongoing relationship can include reviews of the arrangements you have agreed. The timetable is set with MGB Financial Services. It is not assumed, and it is not a promise that an outcome will be reached.

Questions

FAQs

Which parts of the North Shore does this page talk about?

The lower North Shore and the upper North Shore in ordinary use: harbour suburbs through Chatswood and St Leonards, and the ridge suburbs such as Gordon, Killara and nearby. These are areas where clients live and work. They are not addresses of an office.

Do you have a North Shore street address?

No street address is published. Meetings are in person at an agreed North Shore location or by video. The place is sent to the people attending.

What do North Shore clients usually ask about?

Personal insurance for medical and professional incomes, retirement planning for couples who are still working, and how ageing parents fit beside that plan. Aged care is not marketed here. Estate planning is with specialist legal partners.

Can both people in a couple attend?

Yes. A joint introductory conversation is possible. Personal advice, if it goes ahead, is prepared for the person who engages MGB Financial Services. Being in the room does not by itself make someone a client.

Is a video meeting appropriate for a first conversation?

Yes. Many North Shore diaries will not survive a trip into the city for an introduction. Video is arranged on that basis. It remains general. It is not personal advice.

Who gives the advice?

MGB Financial Services Pty Ltd, Authorised Representative 428617 of Charter Financial Planning Limited. Vermilion introduces clients and does not provide financial advice.
