In brief
Financial planning for high net worth and ultra high net worth clients, described in general terms. Advice is provided by MGB Financial Services. Trusts, companies and self-managed super are not a product recommendation. SMSF advice is on SMSF adviser Sydney.
General information. Reviewed 16 October 2026. Rules, caps and benefit tests change. Check the Australian Taxation Office, Moneysmart or Services Australia before you rely on a figure.
Who it's for
High net worth individuals with surplus income, existing investments, or a household whose spending and saving need to be seen together. Business owners whose personal wealth and the business are easy to confuse. Professionals, including doctors, whose personal affairs have outgrown a default super fund.
Ultra high net worth individuals and families who already work with an accountant and a lawyer, and who want financial advice to sit in that group without pretending to replace it. If the question is mainly the will and the legal documents, start with the family office page.

How we help
Trusts, companies and self-managed super funds
Some families hold wealth through a trust, a company, or both, and some hold superannuation in a self-managed super fund. Those are structures. They have trustees or directors, rules, and reporting. Describing them here does not create them, does not recommend them, and does not review one that already exists.
MGB Financial Services is authorised to provide SMSF advice. That subject has its own page, SMSF adviser Sydney. This page still only describes the structure. It does not set a fund up, administer one, or name a product. The Australian Taxation Office publishes trustee duties and the questions to ask before a fund is established. Personal SMSF advice, where it is given, comes from MGB Financial Services.
Intergenerational wealth, in plain language, is the question of how money might support more than the current generation. On this page that question is answered only with the authorised financial services: superannuation, retirement, insurance and wealth accumulation for the people concerned. Passing assets, control of a trust, or a company is legal and tax work. Estate planning with specialist legal partners is the legal part. The accountant is the tax part.
- Wealth accumulation and retirement planning for the individual who asks.
- Personal insurance where other people depend on the income.
- Structures described, not recommended.
- Self-managed super mentioned only as a structure some families use.
- Intergenerational questions split between financial advice, specialist legal partners and the accountant.
How a private client conversation proceeds
The shape of the affairs, not a recommendation
You can describe, in general, whether there is a trust, a company or a self-managed fund. Vermilion does not advise on them in that meeting.
A scope that stays inside the guide
MGB Financial Services will say which questions it can take as personal advice and which belong with a lawyer or an accountant.
Fees before the work
Complex affairs can take more time. The fee is still quoted and agreed in writing first. This page does not estimate it.
One document at a time
Advice is written for the client who engages the practice. Related people are not advised by being in the room, unless they engage separately.
Limits
- A structure that reduced tax in one year can be wrong in the next. This page does not assess that.
- Self-managed super funds carry trustee duties, penalties and time. The ATO describes those costs. They are easy to underestimate.
- Intergenerational plans fail when the legal documents and the financial accounts describe different intentions.
- Concentrated wealth can fall in value. Nothing on this page stops a balance from falling.
- Calling a service a private-client service does not change the licence or the Financial Services Guide.
Questions
FAQs
What does financial planning for high net worth individuals mean here?
It means general information for private clients with more complex affairs, limited to the services in the Financial Services Guide: superannuation, retirement, personal insurance, wealth accumulation, cash flow and government benefits where relevant. Personal advice is provided by MGB Financial Services. Vermilion makes the introduction.
What does financial planning for ultra high net worth individuals add?
It is the same service boundary, read for families and family offices whose affairs include entities and more than one generation. It does not add investment management, tax structuring or legal advice. Estate planning is with specialist legal partners, described on the family office page.
How are trusts, companies and SMSFs treated?
They are described as structures some families use. This page does not recommend a trust, a company or a self-managed super fund, and it does not set one up. Tax consequences belong with your accountant. Legal documents belong with specialist legal partners.
Is this SMSF advice?
This page describes a self-managed super fund as a structure some families use. SMSF advice in Sydney is provided by MGB Financial Services and is written up on the SMSF adviser Sydney page. This page does not set a fund up, does not name a product, and is not personal advice. Trustee duties are explained by the Australian Taxation Office.
What does intergenerational wealth mean on this page?
It means asking how superannuation, insurance and other savings might matter to more than one generation. It does not mean a plan to transfer control of a trust or a company. That transfer is estate planning with specialist legal partners, together with the family's accountant for the tax.
Where is estate planning described?
On the family office page, and only as estate planning with specialist legal partners. MGB Financial Services is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Vermilion does not give legal advice either.
Who provides the advice?
MGB Financial Services Pty Ltd, Authorised Representative 428617 of Charter Financial Planning Limited, AFSL and Australian Credit Licence 234665. Vermilion does not hold an Australian financial services licence.
Is reading this page personal advice?
No. The information is general. It does not consider your entities, your balance sheet or your family. You need to consider your own situation, and you need personal advice from MGB Financial Services before you act on any of it.
