In brief
Wealth management and investment strategy, explained as general information. Advice is provided by MGB Financial Services. This page does not name a product and does not promise a return.
General information. Reviewed 16 October 2026. Rules, caps and benefit tests change. Check the Australian Taxation Office, Moneysmart or Services Australia before you rely on a figure.
Who it's for
It is written for private clients who already earn or hold more than a simple salary account can describe. A professional with surplus income. A household saving across super and other accounts. A person who has been sold products over the years and wants them described in one place before any change is considered.
It is also written for people who use the property tools on this website and want to understand the boundary. A property calculator is not wealth advice. An investment strategy is not a shortlist of assets, and this page does not contain one.

How we help
Investment strategy, in general terms
An investment strategy, in personal advice, usually records the goal, the period, the need for money along the way, and how much fall in value a person can live with. It then considers the kinds of investments the licence allows the practice to advise on. The Financial Services Guide refers to securities, managed investments and investor directed portfolio services, among other things. This page does not name a fund, a platform or a security.
Trade-offs are the point of the document. Money that can fall in value may be held for growth. Money that must be spent soon is a poor candidate for that fall. Fees and tax change the result that is left. An illustration used in advice has to show its assumptions and has to be net of the fees that have been assumed. It is not a promise.
Direct property is not a financial product in the service list, and this page does not offer property advice. The calculator linked below is an illustration for people already using this website's property tools. It sits next to a warning for that reason.
- A goal and a time period, described by the client, not assumed by this page.
- Cash that has to stay available, separated from money that can be invested for longer.
- Superannuation as one account among others, with a link across to retirement planning.
- Fees, including advice fees agreed in writing before the work proceeds.
- Risk of loss, written next to any discussion of growth. One does not come without the other.
How a wealth conversation proceeds
Describe the question
You tell Vermilion whether the question is surplus income, an existing mix of investments, or how wealth sits next to retirement. The conversation is general.
Introduction and a quote
If you want advice, MGB Financial Services sets the scope and quotes the fee before personal advice is prepared. You can decline.
A strategy in writing
Personal advice, if given, is a document you can read before you act. It does not arrive as a verbal suggestion on this website.
Implementation only of what is agreed
Steps are taken only where you have agreed them. A later review is a separate agreement, not an assumption that markets will behave.
Limits
- Investments can fall in value. A higher expected return is not a result you can count on.
- Fees and tax reduce what is left. An illustration that ignores them is not useful.
- A strategy that fitted one year can fit the next year poorly if income, spending or the law changes.
- Replacing one investment with another can create tax or timing costs. This page does not suggest a switch.
- Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.
Questions
FAQs
What does wealth management mean on this page?
It means the wealth accumulation services in the Financial Services Guide, described in general terms. It is not a discretionary portfolio, and Vermilion does not manage money. Personal advice is provided by MGB Financial Services. This page does not name a product or promise a return.
What is an investment strategy?
An investment strategy is the reasoning for how money might be arranged: the goal, the time, the need for cash, and the prospect of loss. In personal advice it is written down. On this page it is only explained. It is not a list of investments to buy.
Does this page recommend a fund or a security?
No. No fund, platform, insurer or security is named. A decision to buy, sell or keep an investment needs personal advice from MGB Financial Services, given in writing, after your circumstances have been considered.
How does the property calculator relate to wealth management?
The calculator illustrates property figures from assumptions you enter. It is general information beside this page, not part of an investment strategy and not personal advice. It does not promise a result. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.
Who is wealth management for?
Private clients who want wealth accumulation explained before they ask for advice. That includes professionals with surplus income and households with money in more than one place. It is not a service for picking a property, and it is not tax advice. Tax questions belong with your accountant.
What are the main risks?
Values can fall. Fees and tax reduce outcomes. A mix that suits one set of circumstances can suit another poorly. Any illustration depends on assumptions that may not hold. Nothing on this page removes those risks.
How are fees explained?
MGB Financial Services explains fees before personal advice is prepared, and they are agreed in writing. The Financial Services Guide describes initial fees from $0 to $22,000 or 0% to 1.13%, and ongoing fees from $0 to $22,000. The figure that applies to a person is the one quoted to them, not a number chosen on this website.
Can Vermilion give the investment advice?
No. Vermilion introduces clients to MGB Financial Services Pty Ltd, Authorised Representative 428617 of Charter Financial Planning Limited, AFSL 234665. Vermilion does not hold an Australian financial services licence.
